Muzaffarabad is the cultural and financial capital of
Azad Kashmir in Pakistan.It
lies on the banks of the Jhelum and Neelum rivers. By 1999, the
population had risen to almost 750,000. Muzaffarabad is named after its
founder, Sultan Muhammad Muzaffar Khan, who belonged to the Bamba Tribe.

- The Red Fort
Sultan Muzaffar Khan, the founder of Muzaffarabad city, finally
completed the construction of the Red Fort in 1646. The Dogra rulers
further reconstructed and extended the fort for their political and

formally known as the Kishan Ganga River with steps leading to the banks
of the river. Locally, it is known as the “Rutta Qila”.

Muzaffarabad. A few private hotels are available here for tourists to
stay overnight.
